While targeted advertising can sometimes be seen as an interruption along the same lines as telephone solicitors, it does have its positive purposes. Newer and improved controls in many popular browsers have decreased the intrusiveness of some Internet ads, particularly those of the pop-up variety that seem to come up during an important work-related project. Spam email is also associated with this kind of advertising, though computer users also have plenty of inbox filter tools at their disposal in order to minimize the electronic clutter.
